Since starting online in the fall of 2009, I’ve leaned on nothing but search engine traffic to arrive at my websites, and the result has been a passive income from affiliate marketing. I haven’t tried PPC, simply used WordPress SEO tactics to make my living.

Why Duct Tape SEO Was Written

Do I really need all these article spinning and submitting tools? Do you really need to spend so much time “gaming Google” or is there a more affordable way?

I grew skeptical after Google Panda…Especially after my main money-earning website took a nosedive from dozens of #1 positions in Google to being knocked down to #900 and beyond.

This nosedive in my rankings translated into a loss of income of $5,000 or more – my site wasn’t getting any traffic. I was crestfallen and not sure what to do. So I asked someone I trust, a man by the name of Leo Dimilo, what I should do.

It got me thinking of how I’d always gamed the system of ranking, versus doing my level best to make a quality site and use risk free ranking tactics that Google approved of. My methods were all pushing the envelope and downright risky SEO, and after I made those changes, my website bounced back from the Google Panda update to #1, like before.

Is there such a thing as “affordable search engine optimization” – or is it just a matter of buying expensive tools, buying subscriptions to questionable linking services, and “he with the most toys wins”?

If SEO offers “free traffic,” why does it cost so much money?

Do you really need every link building tool like the content spinners, article submitters, forum blasters, CAPTCHA cracking services and proxies to “hide” from Google?

Is it possible to simply rank well in search by giving search engines what they’re looking for, and produce quality websites you can expect to rank well?

How My Newbie Wife Used Twitter to Get Over 3000 Visitors

How important is Twitter to you? For me and for the uninitiated, it’s just noise in 140 characters or less. For those who learn to use it, it’s a great way to kill a server with a traffic spike, and a concise way to be found by the right people.

My wife, who is new to both the Twitterverse and the blogosphere (she used to have a blog but I took it over and sadly she stopped posting, but she got me into blogging to begin with back on Vox.com), managed to make me a bluebird believer.
