What is Duct Tape SEO?
Since starting online in the fall of 2009, I’ve leaned on nothing but search engine traffic to arrive at my websites, and the result has been a passive income from affiliate marketing. I haven’t tried PPC, simply used WordPress SEO tactics to make my living.
Why Duct Tape SEO Was Written
I grew skeptical after Google Panda…Especially after my main money-earning website took a nosedive from dozens of #1 positions in Google to being knocked down to #900 and beyond.
This nosedive in my rankings translated into a loss of income of $5,000 or more – my site wasn’t getting any traffic. I was crestfallen and not sure what to do. So I asked someone I trust, a man by the name of Leo Dimilo, what I should do.
It got me thinking of how I’d always gamed the system of ranking, versus doing my level best to make a quality site and use risk free ranking tactics that Google approved of. My methods were all pushing the envelope and downright risky SEO, and after I made those changes, my website bounced back from the Google Panda update to #1, like before.
- Is there such a thing as “affordable search engine optimization” – or is it just a matter of buying expensive tools, buying subscriptions to questionable linking services, and “he with the most toys wins”?
- If SEO offers “free traffic,” why does it cost so much money?
- Do you really need every link building tool like the content spinners, article submitters, forum blasters, CAPTCHA cracking services and proxies to “hide” from Google?
- Is it possible to simply rank well in search by giving search engines what they’re looking for, and produce quality websites you can expect to rank well?
